Modern Beach House

We focused the commanding view of this urban site in Michigan City, Indiana toward the water. A wall of glass frames the view while clerestories at the roof level and translucent Kalwall assures that sunlight penetrates throughout the living spaces. Substantial terrain necessitates entering the building from the second level via a bridge that provides a vista to the water thru the axis of the house. A large terrace at the main level provides sun protection for the lake-level terrace. A soaring pitched roof is expressed on the interior to provide character for the bedrooms.
