This 100-year-old classic Colonial home underwent a thoughtful and transformative renovation, meticulously tailored to the rhythm of a young family. The project achieved a seamless blend of historic elegance and modern utility. Key to the transformation was a highly customized kitchen and mudroom renovation. The reimagined kitchen now anchors the main floor, creating an effortless new circulation path to the front living room, providing access to a new powder room, and improving the connection to the basement. Perhaps the most dramatic change is the children's bedroom loft. We seamlessly extended the home's original, elliptical staircase up a full floor to connect to this new space. The loft is now flooded with natural light, thanks to three new dormers that were added to the facade, designed and executed to appear perfectly original to the home's architecture.
This 100+-year-old classic colonial-style Chicago home was thoughtfully renovated to meet the needs of a young family.
