Nick Moorhouse

Associate

Nick Moorhouse joined bba Architects in the winter of 2022 as an Associate leading projects through all stages of development and construction. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 2012 and his Masters of Architecture from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2014. While in school, Nick studied Danish design in Copenhagen and has a deep appreciation of the Scandinavian approach to creating clean and inviting spaces.
 
Nick has worked in the high-end residential, commercial, and civic sectors, designing everything from single family homes to state-of-the-art fire stations to multi-family housing complexes. He has also spent time working as a general contractor, including bidding projects and managing crews on builds, to gain a more holistic understanding of the construction industry. He was thrilled to return to the world of architecture as his true passion lies in working directly with clients to help them create their dream homes. One of his favorite skills is the ability to quickly produce hand-drawn renderings to explain ideas and concepts to clients.
 
Outside of the office, Nick spends his time with his wife and son visiting Chicago’s amazing museums, theaters, restaurants, and lakefront. Woodworking and watercolor are a few of his favorite personal creative outlets. An avid traveler, Nick always seems to find an architecturally significant site to visit on every vacation, which he’s sure his wife loves. In addition to designing his own home someday, Nick’s dream is to build a lakeside cabin where he can spend quality time with family and friends.
