Burns + Beyerl Architects, Inc, wins International Design Competition
Chicago, IL - September 14, 2001 - Burns + Beyerl Architects (BBA), has been selected to design a new community with 217 high-end private residences in Beijing China.
The Beijing Clear Water Fountain Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. and the Beijing World Trade Corporation have selected the master plan and building designs prepared by BBA for a 165 acre site in Beijing, in an invited competition including Steven Ehrlich Architects of California and House Brand of Calgary, Canada.
Burns + Beyerl Architects,prepared it's submission in collaboration with Anderson & Oh Architects and Wolff Clements & Associates (Landscape Architecture and Planning). The invited firms presented their designs in Beijing on August 27th and 28th, 2001.
In an announcement from the Competition organizers in China:
"Kwans is especially impressed by the scheme from Burns + Beyerl Architects, Inc. The plan is well balanced between the open space layout of the big gesture at the entrance and the water & green canals shared by all the residents. The overall plan is clear, straight forward, and easy to understand. The layout is set in such a way, that it builds up the significance of the important buildings: the community center (120,000 sq.ft), and the two (25,000 sq.ft), villas. The designs define the different standards of living and reflect the Market and Kwans' expectation. This scheme properly addresses the "Clear Water" idea and is unique in current markets in Beijing."
