Senior Associate

Mike graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1996, and moved to Chicago in hopes of finding a summer internship. He found the ideal job at a small husband and wife owned Architect led-design/build firm in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago. The firm was particularly impressed with Mike's extensive construction experience gained by working throughout his college career. With constant opportunities to take on new responsibilities in both architectural design and general contracting, Mike was able to rapidly develop and hone a multitude of important skills necessary to become a successful architect.

In 2001, Mike, with his friend Aaron Gang, bought a building in Chicago and rehabbed it into their home and studio. The building is also home and rehearsal space to Mike and his hip hop band, small CHANGE, which has performed at Metro, Double Door, Empty Bottle, and many cities throughout the Midwest.

After 5 years of experience, and completing the architectural registration exams, it was time for Mike to advance his career and move on to a new architectural firm. As fate would have it, his roommate happened to be photographing a project designed by Burns + Beyerl. After interviewing, BBA was impressed with his management of Chicago single-family residences and his exceptional ability to understand the very complicated City of Chicago Building and Zoning Code. He was asked to join the firm immediately.

Mike enjoys sharing his talents with Burns + Beyerl Architects, and continues to thrive and grow as an architect through the many challenges and experiences the firm provides.
